Programs
Currently we provide wide range of services
to the African Immigrant/Refugee population through the
following FOUR programs - Economic Self-sufficiency, Community
Organizing, Better Health Alertness and Youth Enrichment
programs:
Economic Self-sufficiency Program (ESP)
Serving an average of over 400 individuals a
year, the Economic Self-Sufficiency Program provides services
including job placement, job training, financial literacy and
micro-business development.
Community
Organizing Program (COP)
Serving over 150 individuals a year, the
Community Organizing Program works for a systemic change to
reduce/eliminate racism through advocacy, education and
organizing the African community around issues common to them.
Better Health Alertness Program (BHAP)
Reaching over 250 individuals every
year, the Better Health Alertness Program researches, educates
and advocates for African families on issues around health and
health disparities. Health Education is on the hazards of tobacco, alcohol, drug abuse, HIV/AIDS and
other diseases that are threats to economic self-sufficiency.
Youth Enrichment Program (YEP)
Serving 50 youth and young adults annually,
the Youth Enrichment Program addresses the problems that African
youth and young adults face as they try to make a life in Minnesota after long
absences from formal school. The program provides a
comprehensive career solution for African youth and young adults
and provides advocacy and community organizing
programming around the issue of
‘School Age Policy and its effects on African young people.
